What are Neurodegenerative disorders

Neurodegenerative disorders are diseases that arise due to excessive (pathological) apoptosis of neurocytes.

Naturally, apoptosis is a genetically programmed death of the cells, which leads to a "neat" disassembly and removal of "unnecessary" ones.

Parkinson disease (PD), as well as Alzheimer’s disease, is one of two most widespread diseases in elderly and old patients.

Currently, there are no curative methods of treatment of these disorders. Standard of care include symptomatic treatment, which is aimed at minimization of clinical signs and slowing down disease progression.
